Wofoo Tai Po fell to a 2-4 defeat to HKFC on Sunday night in Sapling Cup Group Stage. With the team in the lead, the opponent scored 3 goals in 10 minutes and won 2:4.
Green Warriors opened the scoring after 7 minutes as Chung Wai Keung scored from the far post. But 1 minute later, HKFC then scored a goal to equalize. The situation was stalemate until 32 minutes, and the defender Lee Ka Ho pushed the goal to more than 30 yards and took a long-range shot. The ball bounced the bottom of the post, giving Tai Po 2:1 led to finish the half.
Green Warriors were looking to put the game beyond reach in the second half, but failed to expand the score. It was then tied by the HKFC in 87 minutes. A few minutes later, HKFC scored again to lead 3:2. Until the last blow, the entire army of Tai Po was pressed in final third, but after being successfully cleared by the opponent, they shot past the last man with a single shot. Tai Po finally lost 2:4.
Tai Po’s next HKPL match will be on 20 Nov against HKPL winner Kitchee at Mong Kok Stadium. This loss just reminded the team to wake up. We hope to see everyone in the stands!
